LOUISIANA HARVEST CALENDAR

run Run RUN

THE ONE MONTH TEST - They say it takes a month to develop a good habit, so I'm giving myself a month to develop it. Starting on Tuesday, March 23, 2010, I'm going to start running.

If you can get yourself out that door to run, you win.
You will get in better shape, feel better about yourself, and hopefully grow to love running.

Running Goals

**The main goal is not to be thin, but to be FIRM**
I do understand that I will never be petite or skinny, but I want to take care of my body and shed the excess fat. I am ready to finally be proud of my body.
  1. Run consistently!
  2. Run FOUR times a week - Monday through Thursday (just like in high school). Running on an everyday basis will help you stay on a schedule
  3. Find some awesome music to run to - here, here, or here.
  4. Get a watch
  5. Don't stop moving - because your legs can get tight.
  6. Complete an aerobic workout that is between 20 to 30 minutes long
  7. Five minute brisk walk (warm up), 20 minute jog, five minute brisk walk (cool down)
  8. Add in some speed work because it will help burn more calories - end the run with a few pick ups (run faster than your regular run, but slower than an all out sprint)
  9. Take it easy on yourself, don't stress yourself out when running.
The Benefits of Running
  1. Second best activity for burning calories -- I LOVE my body shape, I LOVE having curves, I LOVE my proportions; however, I want to tone my body, get rid of the excess fat, and be FIRM.
  2. Increases metabolism (so you can eat more) - burn calories more efficiently even when you are resting
  3. Increase self esteem
  4. Good way to get away from everything else
  5. Can extend your life
  6. Benefits circulatory and heart health
  7. Increases muscle and bone strength
  8. Strengthens immune system, reduces chance of certain diseases
  9. Better social life
  10. Sleep better at night
  11. For the BODY, MIND, and SPIRIT
  12. Helps with depression
  13. Assists in overcoming alcohol and drug addiction
  14. Produces "runner's high"
  15. Have a smaller chest
  16. More oxygen gets to your skin and pores release dirt when you run = clearer skin.

The Year of the Rabbit

Those born under the year of 1987 are, in Chinese astrology signs, a fire rabbit. For people who are born under the element of fire are considered to be leaders by nature; being confident and positive in their quick ability to make decisions. Coupled by the rabbit sign, these people are usually kind and lead quiet, peaceful lives.

Resistant to change, the rabbit thrives in environments that are constant. Conservative and not really sure of themselves, the rabbit will draw close friends and rely on them in times of struggle. Without this strong foundation, many of those born under the sign of the rabbit will collapse. Keeping their homes clean and dressing as well as they can afford, the rabbit invites others into his/her house often and enjoys entertaining. Being a popular person by nature, the rabbit is usually a hard worker, doing whatever it takes to get the job done.

Compatible with the Chinese astrology zodiac signs of the Goat and the Pig, the rabbit can abandon their calm and quiet nature if they are provoked. Not easily angered, the rabbit will defend his/her family and although the rabbit avoids conflict, the instinct of the rabbit will take over when it feels threatened.

Given all this information, the rabbit is someone who is well liked, is an extrovert and enjoys the company of others. They make great friends and are usually popular in school as well as in life later because their charisma and warmth naturally attract people. The rabbit would make a great friend because they have a soft heart and listen to others well. If you have conflict or strife in your life, then a rabbit is who you want to call when you need someone to lean on.

re Music

Music, above all, is my most treasured hobbie. Music is the expression of mood through music. Moods exist in many mediums such as physical expression, verbal communication, and mental situation - all of which can be translated into BPM, drum and bass, highs and lows, dance and movement, as well as lyrics in order to create an atmosphere of various moods. From this observation, it can be concluded that choice of music has drastic effects on one's mood.

In this experiment, I would like to start using music as therapy. Music therapy is a field I have not yet explored; however, I recently met a music therapist that may be able to guide me through the foundations.

In the meantime, a fundamental task is to have my music accessible and organized. This past week I have been compiling and organizing my music collection. While this process will certainly take me another week to finish, sampling many tracks throughout the process has been thrilling as well as a motivation to finish.

Once my library is organized, I will have access to creating a "mixed tape" for a few of my friends that are not familiar with electronic music - and maynbe one day, learn how to synthesize my tracks.

A few other goals in regards to music -
- post inspirational lyrics/track links
- dsicuss the idea of a concept album
- purchase/download essential influential albums I have lost along the way
- sort through my various electronic tracks in order to learn the system of sub-genres
